Dear Ex-Student:

You may be gone from Lackland High School--but not forgotten! It has gotten hectic trying to keep up with your addresses.--it is too easy to lose contact with you even when you do not live too far away--and we do not like that! (No, we have not moved--the mailing address is on Bong Street where the Central Office is now.)

We have had some changes over the past few years. Mrs. Janert is now Principal of the elementary school, and Mrs. Stacey is presently acting Vice-Principal for the high school--in charge of discipline and other things. Mrs. Bradshaw took early retirement, and Mr. Hall retired, but the rest of us will have to be pried away someday! Our halls have been carpeted, our sidewalks covered, and my room is filled with electronic typewriters. We have computers everywhere, and we have a new full-size gym (located behind the old one) that is now in use.

Mrs. Frawley continues her sixth or so year with the Student Council. Coach Rice is playing "basketball dad" to his own son, so Coach Millett is coaching all boys' basketball teams this season. Mrs. O'Connell (Economics) left in June for Colorado Springs with her husband and their new daughter; Ms. Lehn (Math-Science) is now married and in Maryland; and Mrs. Barnard (English) is in law school, so we have three teachers to take their places. Mrs. Smith sponsors a library club, VOLLA. Mrs. Wyatt and Mrs. Havel received a grant to do a math-science project a couple of years ago and now sponsor COBRA. Their field trips have included trips to Enchanted Rock and Big Bend National Park.

Although the teachers are not getting any older, our families are. My "babies, Amy and Curtis, are now 6i and 2i; Andy Frawley has hit the teenage years, and Alysson Wyatt is a kindergartner! Of course, Mr. Martin is not getting any older, either; however, both of his "youngsters" are in college now--rivals at A & M and UT.

To balance school sizes, etc., the sixth graders are now semi-considered par-, of our school. It is interesting as these little bodies scurry around the school. They have more energy than seventh graders, if you can believe that!

As you can see, many changes are occurring, but we are basically the same ol' place. We want you to visit; we want you to write. We need to hear from you. Please fill out the enclosed information sheet so we can update our card file. Also, please list the names/addresses of other graduates so that we might be in touch. Do not assume that we know where they are!

Thank you for your time and effort. We are working hard to update our records so that we can communicate more effectively (and perhaps more often!) with our Exes.

Cordially yours,

Mrs. Cynthia Lyon
