MEMORY OF MR. HALL

I was in Mr. Hall’s English class my sophomore year, and what I remember about Mr. Hall, is when ever you answered a question, or raised your hand to give an answer, he would clap his hands together and say "jes, jes Miss Beauregard" or "jes, jes Mr. so and so. He always addressed the students as Mr. or Miss and their last name.

My sophomore year was my first year at Lackland, and when I was selecting my classes, I was disappointed to find that the only foreign language they taught was Spanish. I had wanted to take French so that I could surprise my grandmother and speak to her in the language she grew up with. Many years later in 1995 & 1996, my company paid for me to take Spanish so I could translate forms. I should have taken Spanish in Mr. Hall’s class!

WHAT I AM DOING NOW

I attended Lackland Jr./Sr. High School 10th through 12th grade. My father was stationed to Andrews AFB in Maryland during my senior year, and I told my parents that I did not want to move and graduate with people I didn’t know. My family was given approval from the Base Commander that my mother and sisters and I could stay on base so that I could graduate with my friends. Two weeks after graduation I moved to Maryland and have been here ever since. I started working in the hospitality industry in 1981 and in 1992 transferred to Coakley & Williams Hotel Management Company, where I am currently the Payroll and Benefits Administrator. We manage hotels in MD, VA, DC, NJ, FL, VT, OH and IN. I met my husband Mark in 1982; our first date was November 5, 1982 (we went to dinner on the 5th to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our first date). We married in August 1987, and bought our current home in 1989 in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Although we have never been blessed with children of our own, we are the proud Aunt and Uncle of six nephews and five nieces ranging in ages of 2 months – 20 years old. We have enjoyed being part of their lives and never cease to be amazed that they are little sponges, who absorb everything you teach them. It is a wonderful experience to know that you have passed on knowledge or helped teach them new things. I can only imagine the gratification that Mr. Hall must feel in knowing how many lives he has touched.
