MEMORY OF MR. HALL
I attended Lackland from 1974 (7th grade)
thru 1980 (12th grade), and had Mr. Hall in a number of both English and
Spanish classes. I graduated as Valedictorian of my class, and without
question, would not have done so without the guidance and direction that Mr.
Hall provided. I always looked forward to his class, although he did take
advantage of its location being directly across from the office (& Mr.
Martin), and never hesitated to curtail a behavioral problem by having the
guilty party (usually me) sit outside of his door in the hallway for "time
out."
Troy was a most powerful personality.
His directness, artistry, liveliness, and vocal delivery while teaching was
always captivating to me. Troy Hall was a teacher in the truest sense. He
cared about each student. He wanted you to not only learn, but to enjoy what
you were learning. And, he wanted you to thirst for more. I often sat and
listened to Mr. Hall, and thought that he should be somewhere else, like
Harvard or Yale, not at little ole Lackland Jr/Sr High. He outclassed everyone
and probably knew it. But in the end, I think he really enjoyed the one
on one with the students that our small class sizes allowed.
Thank you Mr. Hall, for all you gave to each
student, for caring, and for making learning exciting and fun.
