MEMORY OF MR. HALL
When I decided to go the 2002 Reunion, the
one and only person I really wanted to see was Mr. Hall, because my fondest
memories of school we’re of him. Being an Air Force Brat, as we all we’re, made
it so hard when you had to move so often. I myself attended 9 schools in my 12
years of schooling, which made it very difficult to fit in or adapt. Out of all
those years and all those schools, Mr. Hall is the one and only teacher that
made a lasting impression in my life. He made learning so much fun and interesting.
I had him for Spanish in my 10th grade year. I looked so forward to going to
his class, I practically ran there every day. He let us be ourselves, have fun,
and we didn’t even realize we were learning. Every Friday was Spanish Monopoly
day, like I said "We were learning and didn’t even realize it." He
had such a gentle disposition with us, teaching us, yet being one of us. He
wasn’t like a teacher; he was like a good friend that just happened to teach us
Spanish along the way. Still to this day, when my children are choosing their
foreign language for High School classes, I remind them of my experience in Mr.
Hall’s class, all the fond memories, and in hoping that they would only be so
lucky to have a wonderful teacher like him. All 3 of my children have gone on
to choose Spanish as their second language. I just hope that it was my
experience that helped in that decision.
WHAT I AM DOING NOW
Sandy Hendrix (Gousie) I’ve been happily
married to my husband Michael for going on 17 years. We live in the Dallas/Fort
Worth area, we’re we have been since 1987. In June we opened our own consulting
firm CONTINUA Consulting, Inc. We have 3 children, Stefanie 21, who is the
mother of my only grandson Blayne. Heather who is 19 and attends A&M at
Galveston, were she is in her sophomore year of her Marine Biology degree, and
Tristan who is 15, and a sophomore at Marcus High School, who after graduation
is planning on attending OU and then plans on entering the Air Force or Navy to
be a fighter pilot. When I’m not enjoying time with my grandson, I volunteer a
lot of my time to the care and human treatment of animals. I work for several
veterinarians as a Veterinarian Technician; however my most rewarding time is
that which is helping hurt and endangered wildlife. I work for Wildlife
Rehabilitators. I rescue and rehabilitate injured and abandoned squirrels,
raccoons, and opossums. We then release them back into the wild. I find it very
rewarding.
