Cynthia Lyon

Cynthia Ann Lyon, age 51, of Helotes, TX and formerly of Clyde, TX, lost her long battle with cancer on Wednesday, February 26, 2003. Cynthia was born November 6, 1951 in an Abilene hospital to Horace and Dorothy Martin Key.

She attended Tarleton State University and then graduated from Texas Tech University where she was on the Dean's List. Cynthia married Bob Lyon of Helotes on November 29, 1975 in Clyde, TX. They had two children, Amy and Curtis. She was a member of Helotes Hills United Methodist Church where she was the church pianist. She had a love for life and music.

One of her greatest achievements was teaching for 29 years at Lackland ISD, Lackland AFB, in San Antonio, TX. During her years of teaching, Cynthia was the coordinator of Alumni Association for approximately 25 years, as well as the University's Interscholastic League Director. She was Lackland's nomination for the Trinity Prize for Excellence in Teaching Award. She also received San Antonio's KENS-TV Station's Excel Award for Teaching.

Cynthia is survived by her husband, Bob Lyon and their two children, Amy Lyon and Curtis Lyon, all of San Antonio; parents, Horace Key of Potosi and Dorothy Key of Clyde; brother, Kenneth Key and wife Gwen of Wichita Falls; sister, Nancy Key of Baird and her nephew, Kenneth Davis of Ft. Worth. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harrold Key.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 1, 2003 at Helotes Hills United Methodist Church. Services will conclude at the church and Graveside Services will be held in Clyde, TX.
