Steffen Taplin was unfortunately killed in a car crash outside of the Yokota Air Base in Japan. He was in his senior year at Yokota High School and had just left Lackland that same year.

WELL ITS KINDA HARD TO DESCRIBE HOW I FELT/FEEL ABOUT THE ACCIDENT..AT FIRST I DIDNT/COULDNT BELIEVE WHAT I HEARD WHEN I FOUND OUT..I WAS TOO SHOCKED TO EVEN CRY AT FIRST, BUT AFTER A FEW DAYS IT KINDA HIT ME, AND I CRIED SO MANY NIGHTS...YOU HAD THE BIGGEST HEART!! ALWAYS TAKIN THE TIME TO LISTEN TO WHAT SOMEONE HAD TO SAY, OR BEING THERE TO COMPFORT SOMEONE...WHEN I HAD PROBLEMS YOU ALWAYS KNEW WHAT TO TELL ME. WHEN I LOOKED SAD YOU WOULD ALWAYS RUN OVER TO ME AND GIVE ME A BIG HUG AND ASK ME WHAT WAS WRONG. I MISS THAT. AND I MISS SEEING YOUR BIG SMILE, AND WATCHIN ALL THE NEW DANCE MOVES YOU LEARNED WHILE ME&AMANDA WOULD TRY TO LEARN THEM, AND I MISS GOIN TO YOUR HOUSE PARTYIN OR JUSS STRAIGHT CHILLIN..I GUESS THERE'S A REASON FOR EVERYTHING, BUT I DONT UNDERSTAND THIS.....EVERYONE LOVES AND MISS YOU SOOOO MUCH AND YOU'LL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART...THERE'S NOT A DAY THAT GOES BY I DONT THINK OF YOU!! Man...I had just gotten back from one death just to come to another. I feel really sad. Like Orion I didn’t really hang out with Steffen but I knew him from English class and when we would run into each other we would talk for a while. He was a really nice guy and I’m just shocked to hear about his death. Like everyone else I just hope and pray he is in a better place and that none of my other classmates, friends, or family die either. Well, Goodbye Steffen I definitely will miss your presence...............

I remember Steffen from ninth grade. He dated my friend Susan for a short period. He was always laughing about something, and always had the hugest smile on his face. I remember going to the movies on Friday nights in a group of people and just hanging out. And walking up to the Teen Center to hang out with him and Kevin. Rest In Peace Steffen. YOU ARE ALWAYS LOVED.
